Great visit
The front of house were amazing, the young man went above and beyond and confirmed my booking had a bath and he also assisted me getting to the room as it was in the other building. The room staff were also delightful and helpful- the coffee machine was confusing me and Ariel showed me the correct switch and got it working. Small things but done with such grace and consideration. The final touch was when I requested milk for tea as the UHT stuff was a bit off. I came back to a handwritten note from John along with a small box of Butlers Chocolates and the milk!! What great staff and all other encounters from breakfast and across the board all the staff were attentive and engaging! It’s not common to experience such a great team of people! Thanks for such a lovely stay!!

Solid 4 star value in a great location
Very nice superior room in one of the newer areas of the hotel. I used to live in the neighbourhood many years ago and assumed the hotel was a 3 star, rather small and catered to bus tours. It still caters to tours (lots of Americans) but it's expanded hugely and upgraded to four star in the newer superior rooms. Large by Euro standards with a comfy large chair to relax in, very quiet. The "king" size bed is really two singles pushed together but a topper on the mattress hides that when it really matters - when you're asleep. I had a couple of support calls to the front desk and both were handled quickly and professionally (one my fault, the other a dodgy safe in the room that needed to be opened). Breakfast is not a strong point, one of the worse that I've come across (I travel for a living, only 4-5 star hotels). WiFi was variable, OK (not great) during the day, but around 8pm it really took a nosedive when I was on an online meeting (presumably because lots of people were settling in with Netflix or some such) and I had to switch to my mobile data. The location is very easy to get into town, a pub round the corner, lots of places to get a quick lunch, good coffee shop 2 minute walk away, and it's across the road from one of the prettiest stretches of the Grand Canal. Overall a very nice suprise of a hotel.
