Fantastic location. Very welcoming. Excellent breakfast. Room very good, quiet at night which was great. Beds comfortable. Bathroom a bit tired and probably needs a tidy up. Otherwise excellent. Would definitely stay there again. Very good value for money.
Excellent service
We usually stay at Intercontinental when in Wellington. It’s been 18 months since last time. The room and bathroom felt dated and staff wasn’t doing those extra things we’ve been used to previously. Breakfast not as outstanding as it’s been.
Great hotel,
Filthy bathroom. Day spa services not running. Swimming pool broken. Five star? No.
I booked a Deluxe room online (- it was the most expensive room outside of a suite) thinking it would reasonably luxurious. The Hotel then gave us a complimentary "upgrade". Couldnt believe our luck- except then informed no "Club" facilities were available, and was still required to pay more for a room with harbour view. The room decor was very simple (eg no artwork) and bed very unadorned (eg no shams, throws) Bathroom was adequate but small. Carpet very worn, and looked like it needed a good vacuum. Walls are paper-thin- can hear all conversation next door, and woken at midnight until 3AM one night with a gathering next door! Had much higher expectations of the Intercontinental for our "luxury" break, especially for the reputation and price.
Awesome service, quick and easy check in. Staff very polite and helpful. Perfect location for getting around Wellington.
Great location, great service, next rooms.........
We were so excited to stay at a 5 star hotel, and based on the photos we thought that the swimming pool would be like the Olympic pools and that the views would be amazing. However we were so disappointed when we saw that the pool and even the bathroom was nothing like the photos we saw. The pool was average-sized and the spa wasn't very hot. The sauna did not work. The bathroom had an old and yellow toilet with chipped paintwork around the bathtub. No kitchenette. The views were also worse than our previous stay at a 4 star hotel. However we later learned from an engineer who came to fix our locker that only Levels 5 and above were newly renovated, and because we were at Level 3 our room wasn't as nice. I think this information could help a lot of people when booking their rooms. We were thus hugely disappointed with our room on the first day, but the following things more than made up for it as the days went by: - Hands down the friendliest service we have ever received. All of the employees make you feel like the customers are kings and queens. You should ask for bottles of water when you first arrive because there are none in the fridge. - Room is very spacious and has no dust, which is good for dust allergy sufferers - Better selection of food at breakfast buffet than previous hotels - Best and most central location ever, close to everything Overall I'd come back just because of their service, and would make sure to book rooms at Levels 5 and up :)
Great customer service and very comfortable room. Lovely bar with fantastic staff, very welcoming. Will definitely be back to stay again.
