I love the attentiveness of the staff, the villas are private and kid friendly at the same time also adult friendly as well. I will definitely go back with my kids.

6/10 Good

While sugar beach is set in a beautiful location, with lovely pools and beach and chairs, we did not think it met our expectations, especially for a honeymoon. Had someone warned us about a few things ahead of time, we likely would not have picked Sugar Beach to stay out of all of the resorts on the island. First, SB is very expensive, yes, but with that expense, you’d expect a resort with incredible food, service, etc. unfortunately, the food was very mediocre and the prices for each menu item were astronomical compared to its worth. A cheeseburger ($30), still water at your table ($15), buffet for $150 per person, drinks were awful and expensive. Food was dry, overcooked, and cheap. The value simply isn’t there. Worse still, Sugar Beach is a very kid friendly resort (big perk for some, but not us). The main pool and main deck were overrun by kids. The main pool had chairs that were covered in chocolate or pink liquid below it because of spills, that were not cleaned up. Kids screaming, crying, jumping. I had imagines that SB would be the perfect honeymoon spot, but we felt like we were at camp. Even at dinner, kids were running up and down the Bayside restaurant, screaming until their parents handed them an iPad. Had the food been better and the prices been actually reasonable, we could have looked past it, but it was a racket. We also ended up changing rooms because our “luxury villa” was connected to a family with kids (so loud). Overall, very disappointing.

Excellent Stay Despite Peak Season
Sugar Beach is a superior resort, and truly beautiful. The lead photo on hotels.com is misleading, however, as that beautiful wood deck and pool is a view from a private residence on site. We were there at a peak time over New Years, which presented its own issues—reserving any chair on the beach required you to be there before 7am to drop something personal, a system lots of resorts use, but which is quite frustrating—but the staff was great, the rooms very comfortable, and the scenery unparalleled, as the hotel is situated between the world-famous pitons. Because of how hilly it is, most people in the standard rooms up the hill will use the jitney service (you have a little dedicated cell phone for a butler who arranges pick ups and such). The one real strike against this Viceroy property is that they don’t have an electric fleet (especially luxury golf carts) for these vehicles. Hopefully they’ll make that adjustments soon. As expected, the food and drinks are very expensive, so plan accordingly. For rum drink orders, I recommend no added sugar / syrup, and a liquor floater on top. As far as activities are concerned, the beach has all sorts of toys to play with - paddle boards, small sailboats, snorkel equipment, etc. the wind around the pitons can be unpredictable, so sailing / windsurfing isn’t the easiest, but its nice ti have. All that said, we had a great trip and would go back in the future for sure.

Amazing!
Amazing resort. Nicest place I’ve ever stayed in. Most beautiful location nestled between the Pitons. Great snorkeling and other water adventures right off the beach. Truly delightful rainforest spa. Very friendly staff.
