Mokara has 28 treatment rooms, including rooms for couples. Services include deep-tissue massages, hot stone massages, Swedish massages and facials. A variety of treatment therapies are provided, including aromatherapy and reflexology. The spa is equipped with hot springs/mineral springs, a sauna, a spa tub and a steam room. The spa is open selected days. Children under 18 years old are not allowed in the spa without adult supervision.

There are indoor/outdoor hot springs open between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. The temperature in the hot springs is set to 104°F.

Awesome, but bring your own comfort food
I visited this hotel 40ish years ago as a teenager. I told myself someday I was gonna stay there. I finally made it! Even with the 160 million dollar renovation going on, it was wonderful. The only drawback... Bring your own comfort food. The only places to eat are controlled by the resort and they extremely expensive and posh. No basic burgers, pizza, etc for 20 plus miles of mountain roads. Don't get me wrong, I love fine dining but not EVERY meal. Plan to spend 50 to 150 per person for each meal if you eat at the resort or the 4 to 5 choices in town. Also, most everything is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so remember that when you book as well. Overall, this place is fabulous. We will come back after renovation is complete to see how marvelous it becomes.

Overall, a lovely place with a few things missing the mark. Spa was fabulous hot pools amazing! The wine bar/tastings were great fun. The beds had seen better days—caved in in the middle by appearance before even sleeping. Switched to a new room; sinks had never been cleaned. The staff was kind called housekeeping right away. (We also received some compensation on our bill) Lots of construction in progress with a few tweaks it will be extraordinarily. Definitely willing to try again after renovations!

Homestead at Christmas can’t be beat
We love staying at the Homestead, especially during Christmas. This trip was the best yet, even with the construction going on. We were treated to champagne at check-in and a beautiful ornament. There were more decorations than in the past several years and the service was better than it has been.

The Homestead was absolutely beautiful with all the Christmas decorations. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The shopping was wonderful in the hotel shops and I spent just too much money. The food in the restaurants was so delicious and the servers were so ready to serve you. The breakfast buffet is a definite must and offers so many yummy dishes. An absolute place to stay during the Holidays!

It is elegant, like a southern plantation. The staff are gracious and warm; always ready to assist. The hotel had a glitch the first two days we stayed and the keycards were not working. A staff member had to let us into our room each time. Even with that inconvenience, each staff member made us feel as though it was their privilege to walk us to our room.. and this is a very big place; it was a long walk to our room. The food was excellent. We had one server, in our four days, that we weren't pleased with; but everyone else was lovely. I must share a couple of exceptional experiences. One was skeet shooting; new to both of us. Our instructor was fabulous. He was so kind and encouraging; we felt like we were skeet shooting prodigies! It was an activity that was low on my list, but the instructor made me want to definitely do it again. Another amazing experience was with Brian Lafountain. What a treasure of a man! We canceled our hike because of the weather, but Brian spent at least 30 minutes with us showing us many intricate bird calls with a small device I've never seen before; with nutshells and other random outdoor objects. He is so talented and full of exuberance about his love of outdoors and knowledge of wildlife. He made such an impact on me; he should be on a weekly tv show. He was that amazing and entertaining. Everyone should spend their time on a hike with Brian!
