Chelsea hotel was excellent with no issues. Clean rooms, even had a balcony. Friendly staff. Toronto is a great city to visit with both the buzz of a city and also on lake Ontario and a good base to visit Niagara Falls from.

Shabby
The hotel is shabby, in need of serious refurbishment. We were recommended to ask for a room in “the refurbished side” of the hotel which we did, upon checkin. We were told no problem and that we had also been given an upgrade. When we reached the room, we were horrified. The room was about 30 years old minimum. We went back downstairs again, waited in line again, and again asked for a room on the refurbished side of the hotel. We were told that the upgrade offered was on the non-refurbished side so if we wanted the refurbished side we couldn’t get an upgrade. We said fine, just please give us a more modern room. So we were given another room which was newer than the first but I would still not consider it to be “refurbished” . The corridors leading from the elevators to the room were so dirty and disgusting, we had to hold our breaths and run to the room each time. The carpet in the corridor smelled of vomit, pure and simple, there’s no other way to describe it. I would never recommend the hotel to anybody.

Great location
I had been warned by a friend that he knew people who had bad experiences in the Chelsea. Before leaving I emailed the hotel and in their reply I was assured that everything would be fine. We were given a room that was in the corner and larger than the queen but the decor was dated. Overall we didn't spend much time in the hotel as we were busy but I would have loved a renovated room. One one day our room was not cleaned but I called housekeeping and they sent someone while we went for dinner. In the end our room was clean, wifi was good and in a great location. I would give more points if it had of been a newer room.
