Holiday Inn Dubuque/Galena

Not a bad hotel but not great service. The parking situation was bad. It was -25 wind chill and we had to park down the street because the tiny parking garage was full. We have 5 people in our family so one person had to sleep on the floor so we asked for extra blankets/pillows multiple times but never got any. They only provide free breakfast for 2 people and when we tried to order over the phone the hostess was rude. Refused to help. Pool is small but kids enjoyed it.

I had high hopes for this hotel, but left very disappointed. At check-in the staff gave us a sheet detailing their covid measures, noise policy, etc. But apparently no-one bothers to enforce any of their policies. From 10pm-1:45am doors were slamming and kids were running the halls. It honestly sounded like a herd of elephants running up and down the halls. The pool was a joke. It measures 15x15ft and was cold. The staff at the breakfast diner were rude and inattentive. They made you feel as though we were interrupting them by sitting down to eat. Food was pretty bland and tasteless. For the price there has to be a better hotel. We only stayed here to be close to the hockey rink and we won't be back.

Hotel was way too noisy on first floor. You could here people whispering in the next room and it sounded like there wasn’t even a front door on the room for how loud the people were in the hallway and they weren’t being that loud. It would be a nice place if it was quite, but I probably wouldn’t stay again. Maybe the the rooms on the upper floors are better, but I doubt it.

This was probably one of the better hotel stays we’ve ever had! Clean, great service and still offering all services despite covid. But, taking the appropriate precautions to ensure safety. The gentleman working 1st shift at the front desk went above and beyond for us! I’ve never received such great service at a hotel! The pool and hot tub are OPEN by appointment! The hotel is clean and beautiful too. Located in a neat downtown area. We really enjoyed our stay.

We checked into this because of the location. Little did we know there was a dog show next door for the weekend. We spent the next 2 days listening to dogs bark. We Mentioned to the staff about the frustration and they did not seem to be able to do anything about it which I get. If they would have posted on their website about this we never would have stayed...let alone payed the price they charged for the weekend night. Very disappointing.

Great stay from start to finish. Lots of parking, eaay check-in, clean room, walkable location and great staff. We'll be back!

Spotless room, very polite staff upon arrival and exit. I will be staying here again whenever I go back to Iowa!

FROM the moment we walked in the door, we were very happy. The check-in process was FAST, the room clean and quite large, the BED comfy! We had the free breakfast and I must say, the BEST breakfast Ive had in a long time at a hotel!!! It was NOT a buffet, you went to the restaurant on premises and ordered from the menu. Amazing quality and taste was out of this world! THIS was a quality hotel experience and I give it 5 stars!!! our new GO TO hotel every single time we travel from now on!!!!!!
