We arrived at the hotel to check in only to learn that the room we were originally supposed to have was undergoing maintenance (understandable, given recent earthquake activity) and we were moved to a new room. The new room was a large closet with no windows, no natural light whatsoever, which we found unacceptable, so we complained to the manager, received a refund, and left. A big part of the reason we decided to go ahead with our trip despite the earthquakes was to support the local economy, but you can't rent a closet and call it a hotel room.
For those who love old hotels, this is a real gem. It's been updated to include the modern conveniences one expects but hasn't lost its original 1870s charm.
Great location near many restaurants, shops, historic sites and more. It’s a good bang for your buck...
Beautiful
Location near all places of interest ,to buy and to eat.
Right downtown, with free parking at broken meters that are no longer used (as space allows). Building is very old (in a good way), and rooms are clean and comfortable.
It is a wonderful historic hotel. We had a room with a balcony which was very nice to have. The A/C was very good on a hot day. You do have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to your room. The room is unusual in that with the super highceilings the bathroom walls only go up part way so you can hear everything but not see in. We used the balcony if one of us wanted more privacy. It is in the heart of downtown and they reserve street spaces right out front, just move the pillar to the walk. Be sure not to park on the opposite side as that is reserved for taxis.
Great downtown boutique hotel right in the heart of everything! Great local recommendations! Free adjacent street parking!
The Bélgica Hotel has lot of character, well located and a friendly staff. It needs to improve the water pressure: shower and sink.
