10/10 Exceptional

Summer trip to Dartmoor
Great location. Sunset picnic on Haytor was perfect after a drink or two in the garden. Staff were so friendly. The light menu offered on the days when the restaurant wasn’t fully open was great. Will definitely be back. Perfect for summer or winter.

If you are looking for a modern up to date state of the art establishment then this is not for you. If you are looking for bags of character great service fantastic food in a warm cosy tradition environment that is slightly frayed around the edges then look no further. We loved it and would loved to have stayed longer. It is right on the edge of Dartmoor and is absolutely wonderful. The menu is tight but boy oh boy it is excellent. Rooms are great, clean and very tidy with oodles of character. Brilliant

8/10 Very good

We had a really nice stay but there were a few things that could be improved. The main body of the hotel is really looking a bit tired. I love its' period charm but the days of horse brasses, highly patterned carpets and black beams are long gone. I was also disappointed with the dinner menu as there was very little choice. In the past it used to have a very interesting offering.
