Better to spring for a long-term classic.
The first thing to note is that this is not a four star hotel. While the location is “right there” if you want to stay near the theater, and be within walking distance of downtown shopping and eating, the value was simply not worth the price point. This is an old building that they have modernized, but not to the four star level. The bar in the lobby is worth ordering from, and the photos online (as always) are great, but the details leave a lot to be desired. The first thing we did was switch rooms—for a high-priced corner room, we didn’t want to stare straight into scaffolding. The I n-room desk and side tables are old and beat up upon closer inspection, AC is slow, headboards are painted over and attached to walls, so on and so forth.

We took a weekend getaway from the kids trip to SF. We were very happy with this choice since we went out to see a show and had dinner and drinks in the Embarcadero and Union Square districts. The room beautiful, comfortable, the views out the window were great and the location was perfect for walking and having fun in SF
