Profile: Downtown Albuquerque

Profile: Downtown Albuquerque

Downtown Albuquerque has a lively dining scene with some 35 independent restaurants, cafés, and bars. Many serve modern Southwestern and New Mexican cuisine, which combines influences from Native American, Mexican, and Mediterranean culinary traditions, with chili added to taste.

Downtown doesn’t have much green space, but what it has, it puts to good use. Compact Robinson Park hosts a weekly Grower’s Market with a superb selection of produce. Look out for seasonal delicacies, such as heirloom tomatoes, poblanos, and sunbeam striped summer squash. The market runs on Saturday mornings from April through November, and features live bands and yoga sessions.

    Double Tree Downtown Albuquerque review.

The Double Tree was a nice clean stylish hotel in the middle of downtown Albuquerque. Although I wonder if it was overpriced because it was a Monday and felt like I paid a weekend price at $175.

    Spend a little more elsewhere

Dirty sink and faucet handle. Gross carpet needs cleaning. Broken magnifying mirror. Didn’t have enough parking on-site so we had to park down the street.

    worst night in a hotel

We checked in early but did not go to our room. We paid an additional $25 for this. When we DID go to our room at 6PM there was only ONE towel in the entire room. I called the front desk and was told by the rude lady that I could come all the way down to the desk and get more towels. At $200 per night I was not going to do this. We also found fresh blood on the comforter and the carpet was ripped. The faucet handle in the bathroom was broken. The room was in general terrible repair. The people were rude the room was worse that a $60 a night motel 6 and at $200 this is unacceptable

    Not 4 stars

I really don’t like to write reviews but I feel like I have to with this stay. In the hotels.com app it says it’s a 4 star hotel. This really is more like a 2.5 star hotel. Everything was really outdated from the fitness/pool to the room. My bathroom was kind of dirty and super small. Stains on the bathroom walls and just the overall quality was pretty bad. They have a big AC unit in the actual room. It was very loud and something you would see at a motel. The worst part was the paper thin walls. I woke up super early to a couple next door arguing about putting up the toilet seat. The best part about this hotel was that cookie they give you upon check in. But I would never stay here again and they need to change the star rating of this hotel. I expected a 4 star and got 2.5.

    Convention Hotel with Limited Services"

Because of the pandemic, there was NO housekeeping. Carpet was soiled so take slippers. Nice bathroom with grab bar in shower, but if one needed clean towels, they had to be picked up at check-in desk. There was no bottled water in the room and had to be purchased at the desk. The coffee bar in the lobby was understocked with breakfast items and it was a Starbucks. The hotel is located in a dreary and isolated section of downtown, at the convention center. It is a convention hotel and should be advertised as such. The entire hotel is a dreary desert gray. Hotel was understaffed because of the pandemic but no excuse for minimum cleanliness. A big sign at entry read Help Wanted. I felt cheated.
