Nice clean hostel in great part of Madrid
Hostel is in great shape in a nice part of Madrid. Close to the presidential palace, and other attractions. We only spent one night there in a quad room with a private bath but it did the job nicely. Only downside was the room was directly off the shared public space and was pretty loud when we tried to sleep. Had a great meal next door at El Raton, yes that's right "The Rat", Would stay again.

Nice hostel, clean, not much privacy though.
Place was clean, and near the city center. 6 people shared one room, with one shower. Bunk beds didn't have curtains, so there wasn't much privacy. Lights we're automated, so they turned on everytime someone walked by a sensor. Can be annoying at times, I recommend getting something to shield your eyes from the lights if you're sensitive to light when trying to sleep. Really clean though, cleaners clean rooms everyday!

The self check in machine was only located outside so you have to try and input your information while exposed to whatever weather there is if you come after staff has left. Also if you lock yourself out you'd have to go outside to get a new key and hopefully you remember the code. Everything is activated with the key including power and your storage so you can't use your own lock. Only a thin Ikea blanket and sheets are provided. I'd made a comment about my mattress cover being stained and I came back to my bed being stripped and an extra sheet placed on top of the stained cover. The shower has good hot water with a waterfall shower head which is nice unless you don't want to wash your hair every day. There are only hooks inside so your toiletries must be placed on the floor if you dont have a hanging bag. The water managed to get my clothes wet on the hooks and the bottoms of my pants got wet everytime I got dressed. The location was ok but not great.

PRO+incredibly nice staff, quick response from owners, clean and modern (super duper clean by European standards), safe, lockers with chip, incredibly comfortable bed, quiet neighborhood and mature guests. CONS-a bit far away from city center, the automatic lights and shower were incredibly annoying, no 24 hour staff, water from the shower goes outside the cabin, can hear everything that goes on in the common room, not enough hooks, could use a bench in the room, and a shower caddy in the cabin, guests were mainly migrant workers so don’t expect to make friends to do tourist stuff with, room was cold in the morning. OVERALL, I really enjoyed my stay at Petit Hostel, but I’m deducting 2 stars because of the amount of CONS. Because of the issue of not being able to get a bottom bunk (my fault since I didn’t think about it beforehand) even though there was an empty bottom bed for a few days in my room. Because I was put under the very uncomfortable situation of having to deal directly with roommates who decided to get intimate while I was in the room and who brought alcohol with them...in such an instant it would have been great to have a member of the staff present. And because despite the fact that I had to use my towel to dry up the floor from the water running outside of the shower cabin everytime someone showered, the owners wanted me to pay 5 euros for a new towel. With some improvements this hostel could easily be a 5 star hostel. Thank you :)
