A little out of the way for a tourist but not a bad part of town. The staff were nice but it appeared poorly organized. We had to wait over an hour to be seated and served at the restaurant for breakfast...The hallway had an awful, unidentifiable smell. I don't know if it was from all of the dogs (and there were a lot) but we ran from the elevator to the room everyday because of the smell. Not goo.

Nice hotel with a great vibe.
A really nice hotel with a great vibe. Location is fantastic, right around the corner from 14th street restaurants and bars, 15 minutes walk to DuPont Circle. Free wine from 5:00 to 6:00 pm and people actually hanging out in the lobby doing it. Very stylish place and good food and cocktails in the bar/restaurant. Friendly staff. Quibbles - the 21 dollar “hotel fee” - cut the crap and just tell us how much the room rate really is, please! And one of the two elevators was out the final morning, which was irritating. Finally, we had a beautiful bathroom but more water pressure would have been nice (we were on the top floor, do maybe lower would have been better).

Great Location but current renovation not worth it
Overall - location was great...beds were not that comfortable and each morning we were awakened by hammering and construction at 730AM due to their renovations. Also we were charged $25 a day for hotel amenities yet the amenities were all closed due to the renovation of the hotel

    First Class!!
When you pay a little more for a hotel, you expect more from the room. And the Mason & Rook more than delivered! Modern huge room, large bathroom, big TV and clean and comfortable bed. And great location. All together made for a great stay.

    Great Hotel. Not Great Service
It’s tough because the hotel was under construction when I went. Knowing that, I understood there were certain amenities that I could not enjoy but I was ok with that. I also did not realize prior to my booking that DC does not allow rooftop access during the winter season. I must admit that I would not have likely booked at that particular hotel had i known about the construction and rooftop limitations. So I had to accept that prior to checking in. Honestly, from there, I was disappointed with the service I received and even minor issues with the room. It’s too long of a story to type but the blinds were broken, the light switch plate was not screwed in and one of the lamps did not work. There was also an issue with the reservation. I immediately went back down to let them know. While they were responsiv The troubling part

    Big things in progress
The lobby and restaurant areas are undergoing renovation which will be finished late spring. However, other than a little extra walking due to detours the hotel was still pretty much functional.

    Under construction until June
The hotel is currently under construction so there was no room service, hotel bar, etc. and I was woken up by the hammering next door. The new hotel should be done by June 1st. Other than that, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Also the staff was lovely. Will try it again after the construction is complete.
