next time--different type of room!!
Great location. We had a corner room which made the access around the bed a little awkward. Getting around the bed to get to closet or bathroom I ran into corner of dresser that held the TV. Both my arms have bruises. All else was great.

Exceptional 10.0
Great Iconic SF Hotel
Mark Hopkins Intercontinental is the perfect iconic SF spot to stay. It’s nestled on the top of Nob Hill with gorgeous views of the city and bay. I love the old touches of this historic hotel paired with the modern comforts and impeccable service. Make sure to grab a cocktail and appetizer at the Top of the Mark.

Very Good 8.0
Cool history but pricey
Wonderful landmark hotel but crazy expensive and up in Nob Hill it's not really convenient for walking anywhere.Probably would only come back to go to the Top of the Mark bar which has the BEST views in the city. But if you've got a limo then this is the place for you.

Poor 2.0
Elevator shaft noise and rude service
Room was worn, with chipped furniture, stained carpets, torn linens and curtains. The room was right against the elevator shaft, which was not only noisy, but made the nightstand shake. I notified the front desk, and they offered to upgrade me for additional charge. Not exactly the service you would expect for $300/night room. Upon check out, I mentioned this all to the front desk, and the woman’s response was a shoulder shrug and a “ok thanks”. Never again.

Good 6.0
Standing on their laurels, but needing renovation
The exterior remains majestic and so does the lobby, but the rooms are tired looking and in need of a renovation. The hallway carpets were dirty and room service trays laid in the hallway for almost the entire day. At Top of the Mark, it also looked tired and in need of a renovation. The table finishes were worn away; and, the chairs and drapery looked like they hadn't been renovated since the 1980s.
