    Perfect except for thumping noise.

    The BA flight from UK arrives Doha at 5:30am, so we were at the hotel by 7am, as we had informed them in advance. We had breakfast in the Executive Lounge and read there for a while, until at about 10am there was already a room available for us. This was outstanding service, and let us enjoy our first day to the full. Almost everything about this hotel is superb, and makes a trip worth the expensive prices. We had booked a non-refundable Executive Room for an 8-night stay. The Lounge offered not the simple continental breakfast and evening canapes which most hotels do, but a full range of western and arab choices for both meals, plus light lunches and teas. So effectively a room-only booking was in fact full-board. All aspects of hotel service, both indoors and outside at the beach and swimming pool, were the best we have ever experienced. The one disappointment arose on Friday, when loud and thumping music began in the grounds about mid-day. The bass beat was so penetrating that it could be heard in our room on the 6th floor even with the balcony doors shut and the air-conditioning on. When we complained about this, we were told that it was due to carry on all through the evening and night and into Saturday morning, and that this happened every week. To their credit, the management gave us the use of a small room on the city side of the hotel, so we were not driven mad by the noise. There should be a notice on the hotel's website announcing that this would spoil the week.
