Learn more about Santa Teresa

Catch world-class waves at Santa Teresa Beach, where surfers ride perfect breaks before retreating to beachfront yoga sessions. The once-sleepy fishing village now buzzes with surf camps and smoothie stands without losing its laid-back vibe. Nearby Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve offers hiking trails through jungle where howler monkeys provide the soundtrack. After sunset, barefoot travellers gather at beachside restaurants where fresh-caught fish is served by candlelight. For a change of scenery, visit Hermosa Beach's tide pools or take a canopy tour above the Nicoya Peninsula's lush landscape. Accommodation range from hammock hostels to luxury retreats, all sharing the same spectacular ocean view. Come for the surf, stay for the sunsets that turn the entire sky into a watercolour masterpiece.

I had a chance to visit Santa Teresa for a friends wedding. It's a small dusty surf town located on the Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula.

It's pretty laid back and simple however it's home to some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica and has been hailed as world-class surfing spot and popular yoga retreat destination. The town itself is just a stretch of road consisting mostly of small shops, sodas (family run restaurants), and plenty of places to rent ATVs.

Despite it's difficulty to get to it's slowly becoming a travel destination with talk paving the access roads in the coming years.
