The palace fort of Shaniwar Wada is Pune's most iconic historical attraction. Most of the building was destroyed in a fire in 1828, but the surviving ruins remain an awe-inspiring sight. The Rajar Dankar Kelkar Museum is home to a fascinating and wonderfully eccentric collection of Indian arts and everyday items dating back to the time of the Mughal Empire. If you're in need of a retail fix, head to Phoenix Market City. This American-style shopping mall is the best place in town to buy designer fashion, electronics, cosmetics, and other luxury items. It's also home to a state-of-the-art multiplex cinema showing the best of Bollywood and Hollywood, plus an amusement arcade and bowling alley.

Where to stay

How to get to Pune

Pune Airport receives regular direct flights from major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kalkotta, Jaipur, and Bangalore, as well as international destinations including Bangkok, Dubai, and Frankfurt. The airport is just 10 kilometers from the city center, which you can reach by taxi, coach, or auto-rickshaw. Alternatively, you can easily reach Pune from many other Indian destinations by train. Long distance services run from cities such as Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Jodhpur, Mysore, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.
