Lowestoft Hotels

Lowestoft is a traditional seaside resort town set on the North Sea coast, at the most easterly point of rural Suffolk. Lowestoft is a large and thriving town bursting with retro resort attractions, from electrifying amusement parks and arcades to timber piers and endless sandy beaches. The town boasts a proud local culture, evident in its historic theatres, local-history museums and independent boutiques. With balmy summer temperatures and calm deep blue waters, Lowestoft makes for a beautifully British seaside holiday.

Things to see

Start your Lowestoft morning by paying a visit to the town’s museum, which showcases a remarkably refined collection of dazzling porcelain, and dozens of archaeological artefacts that tell of Lowestoft’s tumultuous and intriguing history as an ancient fishing town. After, amble up to Lowestoft Lighthouse, a majestic white and red tower that looms at a dizzying 37 meters above the sea, signalling its star-bright light to far-away cargo ships. Take a pleasant walk through flower-rich fields up to Ness Point - the most easterly location in the UK - and become amazed at the crashing blue sea that rolls to the horizon. For a family-themed afternoon, head to the northern part of town, where white-knuckle roller-coasters, vintage arcades and water sports activities await. Finally, finish your day by digging your toes into the unblemished golden sands of Blue Flag Beach, listening to the laughter echo across Claremont Pier.

Hotels in Lowestoft

Lowestoft hotels provide a wide array of pleasantly affordable 3-star accommodation. Stay in one of the traditional resort-style hotels that line the long esplanade, and enjoy large en-suite rooms complete with HD television, queen-size beds and picture-perfect ocean views. For stellar service, aromatic home-cooking, and easy access to Lowestoft’s bustling streets, stay in one of the 3-star guesthouses that reside further in the centre. If you’re looking for a family-themed getaway, then the surrounding Lowestoft countryside is ideal, where inexpensive and infinitely entertaining holiday parks await.

Where to stay

Stay along the esplanade for immediate access to Lowestoft’s wealth of beaches. The variety of beaches are suited to all needs, whether you’re craving warm sun-dappled sands or can’t wait to hit the wild waves on a surf board. Slightly north of the centre, beyond the harbour, is a family-friendly area where the peaceful streets make for pleasant afternoon strolls - but for the kids, Lowestoft’s buzzing amusement park is a stone’s throw away. For a romantic stay in rejuvenating natural surroundings, stay west of the centre, where a luscious streak of meadows, forests and dells meet the eddying River Waveney.

How to get to Lowestoft

Cruise into Lowestoft in style by taking a direct train from either Ipswich or Norwich - both easily connected to London - and arrive into the town centre, where the glorious sands wait just a short walk away. If arriving by car, take the A146 south from Norwich, which leads you directly through the town. Alternatively, if driving from the south, take the A143 through verdant countryside, which connects to the A146. Although Lowestoft is large, it can be easily and enjoyably explored on foot, but bring your own car to see even more of England’s east coast.
