Find out more about Bridlington

Bridlington Hotels

Bridlington is a small and summery Yorkshire town set on the banks of the gleaming Gypsey Race River, which meanders through the town’s curving tree-lined streets and out into the harbour, adjoining the crystalline waters of the North Sea. Bridlington boasts an epic history, with landmarks spanning back to the Roman era, through striking Augustinian religious sights and stately Victorian halls. Bridlington overflows with enormous green spaces which - combined with the calm aquamarine harbour - make it a perfect place to unwind.

Things to see

The grand central town hall is a remarkable feat of unique Victorian architecture, where the stark white colonnades tower up the red-brick walls, and the mighty 10-foot doors are washed gold. After ambling through the hall and its surrounding vine-clad gardens, visit the Bridlington Priory Church. On the site of the original Augustinian Priory, the spiked church spires rise up, specked with intricate gothic ornaments. Inside, see the magnanimous organ, renowned for its fine, sleek design and echoing, hypnotic sound. For a relaxing afternoon, take a stroll around the well-maintained Dukes Park, a vast open green space stippled with delicate yellow flowers and arching trees. Finally, for a blissful evening, walk along the calm harbour - flecked with gently bobbing white-washed row boats - and enjoy the catch of the day at one of the local seafood restaurants, and a drink at one of the traditional pubs.

Hotels in Bridlington

Bridlington hotels are almost all independently and locally run, meaning that wherever you chose to stay you’re guaranteed warm and welcoming Bridlington service. Its central accommodation begins with small 2 and 3-star hotels and B&Bs - which offer comfortable cosy rooms infused with a homely feel - and ends with other worldly 4 and 5-star hotels and guesthouses. While the stellar 5-star hotels provide king-size and family-size rooms with round-the-clock in-room service, the guesthouses - with their luxuriously lavish interior design and attentive hosts - make for a perfectly romantic getaway.

Where to stay

South of the centre - just behind South Marine Drive - is ideal for those who want easy access to Bridlington’s sweeping fine-sanded beachfront, which slopes softly up to the promenade - a long walkway strung with bright red-painted lanterns. Stay centrally to be directly beside the huge idyllic green spaces, to have sublime views across the harbour and to be within the hub of Bridlington’s curious shopping and fine-dining gastronomy. For a taste of true Yorkshire glory, however, stay north toward Flamborough, where the dense, luxuriant forests and sheer sea cliffs will dazzle.

How to get to Bridlington

Bridlington Station, a red-bricked miracle of 19th century design, is centrally located and offers frequent and dependable direct services to Scarborough, Hull, and Sheffield, from which a connecting service will dart you down to London. Additionally, several affordable bus services provide regular trips to Bridlington’s surrounding towns, and a coach company drives a direct smooth line to and from Leeds. Arriving by car is a breeze, as Bridlington rests at the junction of 2 main A roads - the A165 from Hull and the A614 from Nottingham. Once in the town, walking is preferable but the roads are car-friendly.
