Reit im Winkl Hotels

Famed for its crisp, clear air, and huge variety of activities in both winter and summer months, Reit im Winkl is a popular choice for skiers, snowboarders, hikers, and mountain bikers the world over. There's something for all kinds of winter sports fans to enjoy here, from cross-country skiing to snowboarding and skating. Even once the snow has trickled away, the rich green hills and crystalline mountain waterways still offer excellent mountain biking and hiking opportunities to take your breath away.

Things to see

The chances are you'll be focusing your trip on the huge variety of outdoor activities on offer here, such as exploring the huge amount of soft, pristine white pistes, which number around 30 in total. There's also a challenging snow park and half pipe for snowboarders to get stuck into. Meanwhile, for a more serene time, there are a few sights worth seeing in the village itself. The Penninger Schnapps Museum is certainly worth a visit, especially if you're visiting in the snowier months, as a few free samples will send a silky warmth through your veins. With over 30 types of schnapps produced here, you'll be hard pressed knowing which flavours to take home. In summer, pay a visit to the Reit im Winkl outdoor pool. The glittering waters are the perfect follow up to a bike ride, or hike through the rustic countryside. It's a great place for the kids too, and there aren't many places you can swim and splash in such a fantastic outdoor setting.

There's also discount hotels for those on a budget, but even there you can expect to enjoy a free Bavarian breakfast to set you up for a hike.

Where to stay

Skiers will be best served staying near the Parish of St Pankratius, as some of the accommodation here provides a free shuttle service to the slopes.
