Unterwoessen Hotels

Cradled in the alpine foothills of the surrounding glacial valley, Unterwoessen transforms from a hiking and nature lovers paradise in the summer to a pristine winter wonderland during the colder months. As a result, you can expect to find beautiful, secluded hiking trails and panoramic cross-country and downhill skiing runs here. Of course, there's also the scenery itself, with twisting, crystal rivers, and deep shimmering lakes all waiting to be discovered during a lazy afternoon walk or hike.

Things to see

What's on offer will vary greatly depending on what time of year you plan on visiting. In the warmer months you'll be met by a rolling green glacial landscape which is the perfect place to enjoy meandering walks. Stopping for a picnic, opening a zingy bottle of wine, and taking in the stunning views from a hilltop is highly recommended. As far as winter sports go, Unterwoessen is very beginner friendly thanks to the easy and intermediate slopes. While there are no expert level runs, cross-country skiing is a favourite activity here, and can be equally challenging, something for advanced skiers to consider. Wossener lake, just outside the town, is an ideal spot for a secluded romantic walk, or day out with the kids. The glittering waters make the ideal backdrop for a day relaxing by the banks and soaking in the clean, clear air. Mountain biking around the lake is another possibility.

How to get to Unterwoessen

Salzburg or Munich are the best places to fly to for easy access to Bavaria in general, and Unterwoessen is no exception. You'll find a very regular and reliable train service runs from both cities into the region, but hiring a car from the airport and driving is equally as scenic a choice. That said, winter can make navigating the winding roads more difficult, so if in doubt stick with a train or bus service. Once in Unterwoessen, public transport can get you to most places of interest, but walking is perfectly viable, and often preferable, given the scenery.
