Bad Lauterberg Hotels

Bad Lauterberg is named for the natural, bubbling hot springs that flow from the mountains, and the town has long been a destination for those wanting to enjoy the healing properties of the warm, soothing waters. The surrounding mountains also offer a limited amount of downhill skiing, plus plenty of picturesque cross country ski trails where you can explore the natural beauty of the snow covered town. The red roofed old town of Bad Lauterberg is also a charming place to visit in the warmer months, with the glass-like mountain lakes ideal for swimming, and tree covered mountains for hiking trails.

Things to see

During the winter months the small ski trails have a thick layer of snow, and this makes them ideal for beginners or improvers who are using the local ski schools. It's also a popular area for families, with plenty of kids enjoying the trails, and just the one ski lift, so it's not as overwhelming as larger resorts. After a tough day on the trails, head to one of the hot spring pools for a warm up, with these steaming waters are said to possess healing powers, as well as relaxing your aching muscles. In the warmer months you can also take a dip in the mountain reservoirs, with calm, clear waters for swimming, sailing, or just taking a stroll next to. The town also has a rich history, with the Folk Museum showing artefacts from the Middle Ages, and the highly unusual German Diabetes Museum where you can learn about the history of the disease, and pick up some amusing holiday anecdotes.
