Interlaken Hotels

Situated, as its name suggests, between two lakes, Thun and Brienz, Interlaken could not be more Swiss if it came from the pages of ‘Heidi’. Geraniums spill from the window-boxes of wooden chalets, while 3 giants of the Swiss Alps, Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau, act as a permanent backdrop. Head out of town and you’ll find lush, green meadows bursting with flowers and mountain goats gamboling happily.

Things to see

Become acquainted with Interlaken on the Hoeheweg, the city’s main promenade. Stroll through the leafy Hohernatte Park, a favorite meeting place of locals and visitors alike, or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, as the Victorians used to, and clip clop your way down the street. Hoeheweg stretches all the way from the Interlaken Ost station to Interlaken West. At the western end, there are numerous shops and restaurants, where you can buy traditional Swiss souvenirs. At the eastern end, museums and churches form the historic district. Interlaken is close to 3 ski resorts which provide over 200 kilometers of powdery piste. Enjoy blinding white vistas and Switzerland’s fabled pure air as you whizz down the slopes on skis, snowboards, or toboggans. In summer, take cable cars or funicular trains to the top of the mountains for unspoiled alpine vistas. Families will enjoy the entertainment and play facilities at Jungfrau Park, Interlaken’s amusement park.
