"Lovely, clean, modern hotel"

Very good, modern hotel, if a little over-priced like everything else on the entire island of Phuket. Staff very helpful. This is NOT the hotel's fault but get ready to be ripped off by the Thai mafia for all transport costs on Phuket -- taxis, tuk-tuks, airport minibuses etc cost literally five times what they offer anywhere else in Thailand. The Grand Sunset puts you with it, like every other hotel, rather than run a private service because they would be closed down by the mafia if
"Affordable stay at Karon"

The main problem is that the hotel is 35 years old and needs renovation.
We had change our room 2 times. First time when we just arrived, the a/c was not working in 1 of the rooms. After we moved to another room, pipes started to leak in one of the bathrooms.
However, the staff was always trying to help and was pretty nice.
Double rooms are huge. We stayed 3 ppl there but its not a problem to stay 4-5 people in it. The furniture seems a bit old, but it was clean.
The most annoying part is extremely noisy a/c that work with sound of helicopter.
Location is great, its just 2-3 mins walk to the beach and everything you might need is in 5-10 mins walk (pharmacy, exchange, bars, food)

Spent a wonderful 4 nights here. Had a great honeymoon time with its relaxing and great view, excellent service, friendly faces and good food. Although the pillow is too soft. However, other than that its excellent. Looking forward to come to westin siray bay again with family.
"Great, polite and pro-active Staff"

There's no bad word on staff. They anticipate almost every unspoken wish. Always respectfully smiling.
A drawback is that internet access is extra charged and only comes with an annoying id/password login everytime you hock up - try to remember a 12 digit user credentials when couching at the beach front. However, I addressed and I was provided with a custom id/password that I was able to remember. Confirms my statement about the very capable staff.
However, If you don't require Internet for work/studies, it's a great relaxing place worth the price you pay.
The food is always fresh; cutlery clean and polished. Pools are above regular architectural standards and a lovely place to dip your toes while reading a book. Shade is provided by palm trees and tautly cloth (still though some red lobster populate the site).
The hotel-owned beach comes with lots of trash washed up by the currents in low-seasons. But, you may accompany the staff cleaning up the beach - great idea to sensitize on green-planet aspects.
